MikeKeymasterHi
With no football on at present and no Irish NH racing for another week I am left looking for a bet. Hence I have returned here with another long shot for the golf. Danny Willet was the opening show for this thead but had one disasterous round and never recovered. This bet is another long shot for 12 places by way of Chris Gotterup (no serious that is his name) at 250-1 for 12 places at 1/5 odds (Sky Bet).
This guy has just turned pro was a decent amateur and has already made a promising start. Now he does not appeal as a surprise winner against the big boys but is capable of getting through to the final round at big odds.Β The competion is the Travelers Championship which starts on Thursday this week. For those looking for a fantasy bet he is also available at 400-1 forΒ 8 places which has a cash out option (which is an essential extra for the way I bet).Β Β π
MikeKeymasterHi
As Ascot draws to a close it was a bit of a damp squib for the site as Joe’s horse was a non runner and of my three selections, I could only get the one placed which was Highfield Princess advised at 16-1.
I did get a reminder of why I avoid the flat however, when Tabdeed was badly hampered at the start by Commanche Falls shipping David Probert, effectively ending any chance of a result.
On a brighter note, although we missed the placepot it paid out Β£79,125.50 to a Β£1 which I hope shows you why we will be using this type of bet in future. I know I said “I smell a decent payout” last night but in truth no one could have predicted that sort of amount.
MikeKeymasterHi
Here are the placepot numbers for Royal Ascot today. It is a deliberate ploy to avoid the favourites (where possible), as to achieve a decent payout, you have to get the odd favourite to fluff there lines.Leg 1 no’s 6 + 8
Leg 2 no’s 10 + 15
Leg 3 no 3
Leg 4 no’s 20 + 23
Leg 5 no’s 8 + 15
Leg 6 no’s 1 + 5Now remember this, like the itv7 should be treated as a low stakes fun bet that gives you some interest in the afternoon’s racing. π
MikeKeymasterHi
In looking through the card for some Ascot placepot selections I have come across the following2.30 Legend Of Xanadu @ 16-1 for 4 places
4.20 Highfield Princess @ 16-1 for 6 places
5.00 Tabdeed @ 14-1 for 8 placesI will throw these in whilst I await the non runners before finalising the placepot selections π
All of the above are steady improvers which look overpiced. Legend Of Xanadu looks the best bet, especially with the rare but successful combination of Mick Channon and William Buick catching the eye. Obviously the drawback will be trying to beat the well fancied short priced favourite Alfred Munnings.
As for Highfield Princess if this race was on the All Weather she would probably be odds on but she is ultra consistant and should be there or thereabouts at the finish.
Tabdeed is dropping into handicap company and runs off a decent looking mark having slipped down the ratings.
MikeKeymasterHi Gents
All in all a good day at the office and another positive day for Rob which gives him an unbeaten four days throughout the meeting, which is nigh on impossible to achieve.
It was nice to see Joe joining in and picking up a big each way shout with Kelly’s Dino. So it is a big thanks to the boys, as it takes a lot of guts to stick your head above the trenches where you can be shot at.Β π
As for mine I was lucky enough to get Hala Hala Athmani placed seventh which not only meant the thread bets came in but also means that all three of the 100-1 (mug’s) punt placed. This gave the thread a +10 and me a nice +17 points on the day but more importantly, it was an example of a bet you will see a lot of on here in the coming NH season.
As for tomorrow with our resident pro tipster on the sidelines, I would certainly recommend a punt at the Ascot Placepot as I smell a decent payout there especially if the rain comes.
I will update the thread in the morning as it can be a really good team bet. Imagine Rob’s bankers forming the base of the selections plus myself or say Joe throwing in the outsider in that one leg that always throws your bet off and the magic can happen.Β π
MikeKeymasterHi Rob
I think the surprise there was surely Reach The Moon not coming home but the placed options kept you honest on the day. This means you have stayed ahead of the old enemy on all three days of the Ascot meeting, which is no mean feat in itself. π
I will be having a dabble myself tomorrow at Ascot, albeit I am out of my depth with the dreaded flat racing but with no Irish NH racing in sight, think I have developed withdrawal symptons…lol.
So in the 3.05 I am interested in two outsiders both making there seasonal reappearance. The first is Zain Claudette at 33-1 for 6 places, but this one may become a non runner due to the trainer having stated last time out, that the really fast ground was her undoing.?
This leaves me with the 66-1 shot Hala Hala Athmani one of three runners being thrown in the deep end by trainer Kevin Ryan. This one would have had much easier comeback options and with William Buick booked I am interested enough to try the 27-1 for 10 places and the 33-1 for 9 places. (there was also 40-1 for 8 places on offer which would obviously make the bet up to my usual 100-1 shout. But that type of long shot option is for mugs such as me to waste my money on). π
MikeKeymasterHi
I had been hoping to go out with a bang as this was probably one of the last opportunities for a footie bet until the season restarts at the end of next month. π
But it was worth a punt. The Netherlands v Wales game paid out on the 4-1 and the big 250-1 wager missed out by a whisker (well a corner kick to be precise).
Both teams scored in both halves both teams recieved 20+ booking points and the Netherlands had 2+ corners in each half it was just the Welsh corners that let us down. π
MikeKeymasterHi
It’s hats off to Rob today with two winners Dramatised advised at 5-1 and Little Big Bear at 11-4. Also a not too shoddy place return on Bless Him advised at 33-1 (its always worth those extra places). It’s nice to have a high percentage tipster on hand to take the pressure off, whilst us long shot amateurs try and set the site up.Β πΒ Thanks Rob !
MikeKeymasterHi
Firstly has anyone had any issues, either logging in or trying to post comments on any of the threads. ??
We are trying to eradicate any issues before we reset, which we hope to do by approx the 1st of July.
Rob was the only winner today and although both Baaeed and Coerebus were both favourites a short priced winner is better than a long priced loser.
Macilgoney is proof of the pudding here, as mentioned previously he drifted alarmingly before the off never got involved and was pulled up halfway round. π
Rob has has some issues getting on so has text me his tips for tomorrow at Ascot which are as follows.
2.30 Dramatised @ 5-1 for 5 places
4.20 Mother Earth @ 5-2 (Best odds guaranteed)
5.00 Bless Him @ 33-1 for 7 places
5.35 Little Big Bear @ 11-4 (Best odds guaranteed)
He has made a decent case for the outsider Bless Him with the obvious caveat that at those prices you get what you pay for. π I will try and fill in the details from Rob’s text later, time permitting.
I have not had much to put up for about a week now and with no Irish NH racing on the agenda until next week I will not be on this thread for a few days. Please though do report any issues as soon as they happen, with any details you may think relavent, such as time it happened and any error messages recieved. I hope to fix them all by this weeeknd.
MikeKeymasterHi
Just to keep the ball rolling we will try one of our long shot’s tonight with the following.
Netherlands v Wales (Both teams to score and have 2 or more corners in both halves with both teams to have 20 or more booking points in the game). Worth a punt at 250-1. ?For the more serious, how about the following: (Both teams to score, 1 corner each team each half and 10 or more booking points each team). This comes out at the following prices for the home nation fixtures.
Netherlands v Wales @ 4-1
Ukraine v Republic Of Ireland @ 4-1
England v Hungary @ 6-1Even this bet has odds of a 174-1 if you went for the treble and you know we love these especially for there cash out options.
MikeKeymasterHi
I still cannot get any each way extra prices for College Causeway and the ground may have gone against Cullagh Star, so I have only taken the following for tonights Roscommomn meeting.5.25 Macilgoney @ 16-1 for 4 places
5.55 Cedar Rapids @ 10-1 for 4 placesThese are not what you would call high expectation selections, especially as Macilgoney is drifting like a barge in the betting markets. However both of these are low grade races and it will not take a superstar to win them. With that in mind I just fancy that with decent claimer Shane Mulcahy onboard, we could get one of these home with a slight preference for Cedar Rapids.
MikeKeymasterHi
Although I believe flat racing to be the invention of the devil..lol.Β πΒ I will in the spirit of the day enter up two selections at Ascot using a rough adaption of my NH system criteria.2.30 Sir Busker 66-1 (no hoper) but taken @ 10-1 betting without Baaeed for 2 places
3.40 Arecibo 50-1 (grasping as straws) but is taken @ 20-1 betting without both Golden Pal and Nature Strip for 3 placesSir Busker is not in the class of Baaeed and Arecibo should not get near either of the globetrotting front two Golden Pal and Nature Strip. However both are solid performers who have track trip and conditions to suit. If either gets in without the favourites I would be over the moon. Realistically both being placed without the favourites would be the hope as a cheeky each way double would still show a nice profit.
I have already put on the placepot using last nights selections as placepots will now be an integral part of this thread.
I will update tonights NH racing when I come from the garden this afternoon.Β π
MikeKeymasterHi
Well close but no coconut today Legacy Of Dreams got sixth Griffiths Park needed 8th and got 9thΒ π
but Chief Seattle kept us honest by coming second advised at 28-1. π
I do have a few at Roscommon tomorrow namely as listed below but will be checking out the extra markets before deciding which ones to dabble with.
5.25 Macilgoney 14-1 for 4 places
5.55 Cedar Rapids 10-1 and/or College Causeway 66-1 (each way extra price required)
8.00 Cullaghs Star 10-1 for 4 places
Hi Rob
Thank for the tips they will make a nice base for a placepot at Ascot tomorrow.
2.30 no 2 Baaeed
3.05 no 10 + no 11
3.40 no 10 + no 15
4.20 no 6 Coroebus
5.00 no 1 + no 4
5.35 no 9 Juan Elcano
I will join in at Ascot as I am off tomorrow but will be looking for betting in the extra markets such as betting without Baaeed, however will update the thread in the morning as usual.
MikeKeymasterHi
If you anyone is still having problems posting on the site let me know.
Whilst I am on, here are the extra places for tonight at Kilbeggan if you fancy a dabble.
5.30 Legacy Of Dreams 20-1 for 4 places or 14-1 betting without both Breffni Brave and Somme Soldier.
6.00 Griffiths Park 20-1 for 8 places
6.00 Chief Seattle 28-1 for 5 places
I will be home for the 8.00 race and see how the day goes.
The 5.30 race is for horses that have not placed and according to my records Legacy Of Dreams has clocked the fastest time so looks overpriced. -
