Hi
With no football on at present and no Irish NH racing for another week I am left looking for a bet. Hence I have returned here with another long shot for the golf. Danny Willet was the opening show for this thead but had one disasterous round and never recovered. This bet is another long shot for 12 places by way of Chris Gotterup (no serious that is his name) at 250-1 for 12 places at 1/5 odds (Sky Bet).
This guy has just turned pro was a decent amateur and has already made a promising start. Now he does not appeal as a surprise winner against the big boys but is capable of getting through to the final round at big odds.Β The competion is the Travelers Championship which starts on Thursday this week. For those looking for a fantasy bet he is also available at 400-1 forΒ 8 places which has a cash out option (which is an essential extra for the way I bet).Β Β π24/06/2022 at 7:16 AM #11759MikeKeymasterHi
Well that looked really promising my long shot selection went 3 under after just 4 holes last night but unfortunately only ended up 2 under for the round. But if he has another decent round tonight we could still make the final round and a possible place. π
Danny Willett is probably going to hang in there as well and we may have a couple to follow here over the next month, as both for different reasons are possible improvers. It is strange watching golf, but whilst we wait for the football season to kick back in, needs must.28/06/2022 at 12:52 PM #11774MikeKeymasterHi
Chris Gotterup did indeed get through to the last round but could only finish in T28 (joint 28th) so no return this time. However he played four really solid rounds and as we have put him up as a player to follow we will go in again in a few days in the John Deere Classic.
This would be the equivalent of dropping in class and with a lot of the big guns missing from this tournament the following prices are on offer if you fancy a dabble.125-1 1/5 odds each way 8 places
75-1 1/5 odds each way 12 places (no cash out option)
100-1 1/5 odds each way 5 places first round leader01/07/2022 at 7:52 PM #11794MikeKeymasterHi
Well better born lucky than rich (they tell me) π Bet 365 paid out early doors on our first bet.
100-1 1/5 odds each way 5 places first round leaderHe is currently struggling (playing in the sand) on the tenth, but with two rounds to go we may still have a half decent shout for our other two wagers.
125-1 1/5 odds each way 8 places
75-1 1/5 odds each way 12 places (no cash out option)It is really nice when 100-1 shots winΒ π but do remember, they are not a regular occurance.

It is getting interesting at the moment as with just a few holes to go our man Chris is now tied for third place which would bring both of our outstanding bets in for place money.Β π
However, should the front two leaders have a panic attack we are statistcally still in with a chance of a win.
Anyone fancy the 4,000-1 for that to happen. ???…lol.04/07/2022 at 7:40 AM #11843MikeKeymasterHi
Unfortunately I could not stay awake to watch the finish as old age does not come alone. π However I am glad to report that in the end Chris Gotterup finished a very creditable 4th which means all three of our bets returned a profit. π125-1 1/5 odds each way 8 places = profit of +24 points
75-1 1/5 odds each way 12 places (no cash out option) = profit of +14 points
100-1 1/5 odds each way 5 places first round leader = profit of +125 pointsThis makes a rather tasty return in total of +163 points. We try to avoid mentioning cash on this site and the returns here are calculated at a simple 1 point each way bet.
I am obviously on cloud nine as these are the bets you live for and combined with an decent shout on the Winning Post Tips thread at the weekend it has been a nice few days at the office. π

We have just reset this thread having hopefully, now sorted out all the minor gliches with the new site.
We have left the obvious big winner in as 100-1+ shots are about as rare as hens teeth and deserve a mention. They are not, however for the faint hearted, as trying for these can lead to long losing streaks.
Since the site relaunch we have had 14 bets on this thread of which 3 have returned a profit all from the same player on the same weekend. On the flip side of the coin, we have obviously had 11 losing bets with a losing streak of 9.
We are not looking for big winners all the time, it is just the way I personally operate as we all have our own way of doing things. If you wish to put a bet up here that is even money etc please feel free to do so (if you can put a few words of reasoning down with it much the better).
Nobody on here is going to give you any grief win, lose or draw this site is just about opinions and hopefully making a few friends along the way.Β π05/01/2024 at 5:12 PM #16228MikeKeymasterHi
We have just finished resetting this particular thread for 2024. π We have left The Chris Gotterup Golf wager in for two reasons. Firstly as an example of the type of ‘Long Shot‘ bet we have been targetting over the years and also because we will be following him on tour this year.Β π24/01/2024 at 6:49 PM #16479MikeKeymasterHi
Christopher Gotterup is playing later and we will take the 150-1 for 8 places in the Farmers Insurance Open.20/02/2024 at 7:01 PM #16640MikeKeymasterHi
Chris Gotterup could only manage a last round finish the last time we backed him and we have bypassed him the last twice. But this weeks Mexican Open has him at 100-1 for 6 places with Skybet and that has to be worth a punt.06/03/2024 at 5:36 PM #16904MikeKeymasterHi
I do not know why but Chris Gotterup having made the cut in the first two rounds pulled out of the Farmers Insurance Open competition when 5 shots off the lead we are assuming with a minor issue. I say that could he also played last week although we bypassed him on that occasion. He is playing in the Puerto Rico Open this week and with most of the big names playing in the Armold Palmer Invitational or on the LIV Tour this week, he could be the man to be on.
22-1 for 6 places
18-1 for 8 places
16-1 for 10 places
I could be tempted in with any of these but obviously the 16-1 for 10 places look the safest option for the thread. π14/03/2024 at 7:10 PM #17071MikeKeymasterHi
Apologies for the Players Championship wager as the competition had already started π but I will look for one for this weekend. π19/03/2024 at 9:15 AM #17138MikeKeymasterHi
Tricky to keep the faith but as he was a big winner for us last year and we are strapped for a bet until later in the week we will try Chris one in the Valspar Championship this weekend.
Christopher Gotterup @ 110-1 for 12 places.
You can get 125-1 for 5 places for first round leader or 200-1 for 8 places but the above is our recommendation.16/04/2024 at 11:54 AM #17389MikeKeymasterHi
Our Chris is playing well enough but unfortunately cannot cut it against the big guns at present. π
However this week all the Scheffler’s, McIlroy’s and Cantlay’s etc are playing in the RBC Heritage and our boy is available at 55-1 for 10 places in the Corales Puntacana Championship where the opposition is less daunting. π
So it’s Chris Gotterup all the way we have gone with the 55-1 for 10 places and will also back him at 100-1 on the exchanges hoping to cover our backs with a lay bet if he starts well. You can get 66-1 each way 6 places to be first round leader if you feel bold.
The “exchanges” are something we are currently dabbling with they can be complicated but we have an example here on our new Ridiculous Ideas for 2024 thread and you will probably see more of this type of wager crop up over the next few weeks. -
