MikeKeymasterHi
South East Star placed fourth at 40-1 and although best odds guaranteed was in place there was also a small rule 4 deduction, but we still cleared a nice little profit the day.Β πΒ Another 100 yards and we might have got a win here, but we have probably lost the element of surprise when he goes back hurdling.
We have a nice bunch of runners coming up over the next few days but as for tomorrow we will try another small each way on the following runner over at Tipperary. Our selection here is a solid although limited handicapper, who is returning to hurdles after a stint over the jumps but looks overpriced and should get involved.5.35 General Clermont @ 30-1 for 5 places
MikeKeymasterHi
We had five of the six legs up in today’s placepot including the banker but missed leg 3Β π
On a brighter note we have a return of the the Irish NH racing in a few days which means we can hopefully get back to business shortly.
In the meantime one of our runners is turning out on the flat tomorrow at Tipperary. There are two options here, it is either a prep race for a hurdles run in a few weeks time or they think a spin back on the flat (off a decent handicap mark) is worth a try.
It would be worth checking the markets in the morning to see if anyone fancies this one, but as it looks a decent price tonight we will risk a small punt.8.10 South East Star @ 28-1 for 5 places
MikeKeymasterHi
Chris Gotterup did indeed get through to the last round but could only finish in T28 (joint 28th) so no return this time. However he played four really solid rounds and as we have put him up as a player to follow we will go in again in a few days in the John Deere Classic.
This would be the equivalent of dropping in class and with a lot of the big guns missing from this tournament the following prices are on offer if you fancy a dabble.125-1 1/5 odds each way 8 places
75-1 1/5 odds each way 12 places (no cash out option)
100-1 1/5 odds each way 5 places first round leader
MikeKeymasterHi
Just to keep the ball rolling I will throw in a placepot at Roscommon today using the following numbers. Minimum stakes advised so as to only risk a few of our hard points. The bet will total 32x bets (2x1x2x2x2x2 = 32) hopefully you will get the idea by now how this bet works.Leg 1 Numbers 5 + 8
Leg 2 Number 4
Leg 3 Numbers 6 + 10
Leg 4 Numbers 7 + 11
Leg 5 Numbers 6 + 12
Leg 6 Numbers 1 + 2The ground today will rule out a lot of the runners and this set of selections will hopefully bring about a small return on the day. I am hoping for no more non runners as we currently have a good spread of places on offer in all the races. π
MikeKeymasterHi
Rob’s Rajinsky placed fourth at 8-1 today so he has more or less kept himself onside with his selections. π
My placepot bit the dust early doors and I am afraid it will most likely be well into next week before my beloved Irish NH racing returns (but patience is a virtue).Β π
Also with most of the gliches sorted out the site will be reset soon. So those wishing to chance a dabble at tipping should do so now.
MikeKeymasterHi
Well that looked really promising my long shot selection went 3 under after just 4 holes last night but unfortunately only ended up 2 under for the round. But if he has another decent round tonight we could still make the final round and a possible place. π
Danny Willett is probably going to hang in there as well and we may have a couple to follow here over the next month, as both for different reasons are possible improvers. It is strange watching golf, but whilst we wait for the football season to kick back in, needs must.
MikeKeymasterHi
With no football on at present and no Irish NH racing for another week I am left looking for a bet. Hence I have returned here with another long shot for the golf. Danny Willet was the opening show for this thead but had one disasterous round and never recovered. This bet is another long shot for 12 places by way of Chris Gotterup (no serious that is his name) at 250-1 for 12 places at 1/5 odds (Sky Bet).
This guy has just turned pro was a decent amateur and has already made a promising start. Now he does not appeal as a surprise winner against the big boys but is capable of getting through to the final round at big odds.Β The competion is the Travelers Championship which starts on Thursday this week. For those looking for a fantasy bet he is also available at 400-1 forΒ 8 places which has a cash out option (which is an essential extra for the way I bet).Β Β π
MikeKeymasterHi
As Ascot draws to a close it was a bit of a damp squib for the site as Joe’s horse was a non runner and of my three selections, I could only get the one placed which was Highfield Princess advised at 16-1.
I did get a reminder of why I avoid the flat however, when Tabdeed was badly hampered at the start by Commanche Falls shipping David Probert, effectively ending any chance of a result.
On a brighter note, although we missed the placepot it paid out Β£79,125.50 to a Β£1 which I hope shows you why we will be using this type of bet in future. I know I said “I smell a decent payout” last night but in truth no one could have predicted that sort of amount.
MikeKeymasterHi
Here are the placepot numbers for Royal Ascot today. It is a deliberate ploy to avoid the favourites (where possible), as to achieve a decent payout, you have to get the odd favourite to fluff there lines.Leg 1 no’s 6 + 8
Leg 2 no’s 10 + 15
Leg 3 no 3
Leg 4 no’s 20 + 23
Leg 5 no’s 8 + 15
Leg 6 no’s 1 + 5Now remember this, like the itv7 should be treated as a low stakes fun bet that gives you some interest in the afternoon’s racing. π
MikeKeymasterHi
In looking through the card for some Ascot placepot selections I have come across the following2.30 Legend Of Xanadu @ 16-1 for 4 places
4.20 Highfield Princess @ 16-1 for 6 places
5.00 Tabdeed @ 14-1 for 8 placesI will throw these in whilst I await the non runners before finalising the placepot selections π
All of the above are steady improvers which look overpiced. Legend Of Xanadu looks the best bet, especially with the rare but successful combination of Mick Channon and William Buick catching the eye. Obviously the drawback will be trying to beat the well fancied short priced favourite Alfred Munnings.
As for Highfield Princess if this race was on the All Weather she would probably be odds on but she is ultra consistant and should be there or thereabouts at the finish.
Tabdeed is dropping into handicap company and runs off a decent looking mark having slipped down the ratings.
MikeKeymasterHi Gents
All in all a good day at the office and another positive day for Rob which gives him an unbeaten four days throughout the meeting, which is nigh on impossible to achieve.
It was nice to see Joe joining in and picking up a big each way shout with Kelly’s Dino. So it is a big thanks to the boys, as it takes a lot of guts to stick your head above the trenches where you can be shot at.Β π
As for mine I was lucky enough to get Hala Hala Athmani placed seventh which not only meant the thread bets came in but also means that all three of the 100-1 (mug’s) punt placed. This gave the thread a +10 and me a nice +17 points on the day but more importantly, it was an example of a bet you will see a lot of on here in the coming NH season.
As for tomorrow with our resident pro tipster on the sidelines, I would certainly recommend a punt at the Ascot Placepot as I smell a decent payout there especially if the rain comes.
I will update the thread in the morning as it can be a really good team bet. Imagine Rob’s bankers forming the base of the selections plus myself or say Joe throwing in the outsider in that one leg that always throws your bet off and the magic can happen.Β π
MikeKeymasterHi Rob
I think the surprise there was surely Reach The Moon not coming home but the placed options kept you honest on the day. This means you have stayed ahead of the old enemy on all three days of the Ascot meeting, which is no mean feat in itself. π
I will be having a dabble myself tomorrow at Ascot, albeit I am out of my depth with the dreaded flat racing but with no Irish NH racing in sight, think I have developed withdrawal symptons…lol.
So in the 3.05 I am interested in two outsiders both making there seasonal reappearance. The first is Zain Claudette at 33-1 for 6 places, but this one may become a non runner due to the trainer having stated last time out, that the really fast ground was her undoing.?
This leaves me with the 66-1 shot Hala Hala Athmani one of three runners being thrown in the deep end by trainer Kevin Ryan. This one would have had much easier comeback options and with William Buick booked I am interested enough to try the 27-1 for 10 places and the 33-1 for 9 places. (there was also 40-1 for 8 places on offer which would obviously make the bet up to my usual 100-1 shout. But that type of long shot option is for mugs such as me to waste my money on). π
MikeKeymasterHi
I had been hoping to go out with a bang as this was probably one of the last opportunities for a footie bet until the season restarts at the end of next month. π
But it was worth a punt. The Netherlands v Wales game paid out on the 4-1 and the big 250-1 wager missed out by a whisker (well a corner kick to be precise).
Both teams scored in both halves both teams recieved 20+ booking points and the Netherlands had 2+ corners in each half it was just the Welsh corners that let us down. π
MikeKeymasterHi
It’s hats off to Rob today with two winners Dramatised advised at 5-1 and Little Big Bear at 11-4. Also a not too shoddy place return on Bless Him advised at 33-1 (its always worth those extra places). It’s nice to have a high percentage tipster on hand to take the pressure off, whilst us long shot amateurs try and set the site up.Β πΒ Thanks Rob !
