MikeKeymasterHi
Having had a successful dabble last week into the idea of the forming markets and using the exchange markets (including Gabriel ranger Backed @ 10-1 Laid @ 7-1) something else occurred to me (that’s never a good sign). I have been willing giving money to a young lady for about 20 years now and have asked for nothing back in return. It has been a fun ride with it’s usual relationship ups and downs but only now have I realised that “Denise” is now a billionaire and I have just retired with a state pension and a few quid in the bank.
Now Denise runs bet365 and I drive on old Rio Clio with a dodgy clutch so maybe it’s time I tried being a bookmaker…lol. π
We will be looking for a race that suits our database and will attempt to trade every horse in the race just to see how difficult it is. The only minor issue I can foresee is that Denise trained as an accountant and probably has vast array of stat busting computers and thousands of highly motivated employees which might just give her an edge. I think from memory I just about spelt my name right on the top of my maths GCSE exam form at school (that surely should have been worth an extra mark) :(.
Watch this space for our maiden voyage of the good ship “Bookie Buster” I will be watching out for icebergs. π
MikeKeymasterHi
So far so good with the exchange prices as they look like this this morning.
Brennus Lescribaa 6-5 out to 7-4
Whateys Quest 2-1 in to 6-4
Splendid Choice 11-2 out to 7-1
Midweek Voices 6-1 in to 4-1
I will be out putting fences up this morning (don’t ask) so will not be around much but as you can see the trade is on, its just a question of when we trade the four off. π
As for the 5.10 we can get 13-2 for 9 places but the 31-4 for 8 places looks better value (unless the prices go out). We will take these if nothing else comes up.
MikeKeymasterHi
We are going in over at Clonmel tomorrow but the majority of our wagers are dependent on the extra markets.
5.10 Darcy’s Friend 200-1
5.10 Springboard 100-1
5.45 Shean Glory @ 12-1 for 4 places.
We also will be having a look at the exchange markets in the 4.35 where we believe the top four in the market will change in price with Midweek Voices being the one to upset the apple cart pricewise.
Brennus Lescribaa 6-5
Whateys Quest 2-1
Splendid Choice 11-2
Midweek Voices 6-1
There are only 7 runners and this will be easier to keep an eye on as we dabble in what can be a dangerous game.
We believe Brennus Lescribaa and Splendid Choice will drift and Whateys Quest and Midweek Voices will shorten up.
MikeKeymasterHi
Well it was a good run while it lasted but we are now back to square one as usual. π I have been asked again about why I use the “Rolling Maul” idea when placing my bets for the thread and the answer is simple we need to keep some interest in the threads. I may well personally use totally different amounts and wagers myself but for the thread we stick with the increasing stakes option (The Rolling Maul) as it attracts the most hits to the site.
This is just a fun site but with a serious side, but hopefully does give some insights into sports betting and also has had some notable touches (big priced winners) over the years. π I cannot believe we are already into our sixth year and the fact that I have made some good friends past and present through the site has been a bonus. π
MikeKeymasterHi G
True it was fun but…things do have a habit of changing. Thanks for joining in and try not to be a stranger. π
MikeKeymasterHi
Well it could have been worse Union Station finished second to Icare Desbois so meant we had a win bet on our hands. But Gabriel Ranger although finishing fifth behind the favourite Three In A Row lost as Reve Inoui finshed behind him. This means we lost 3 points on the day and leaves us with decent enough balance of +105.05 but means we have to step up to a 16 point wager next time.
MikeKeymasterHi
That was a funny old day we started with Minella Buddy and Handysonofdan both placing in the 1.30 then Cheerful Chap won the 2.05 Ayiko placed in the 2.40 and we thought great day on the cards here. π
Well you know the rest:( We then went from being +10.26 on the day down to +0.26 in the space of half an hour. π But it was still a profit rather than a loss so it could have been worse.
The exchange bet obviously could not lose as we had backed it at over 10-1 and layed it at 7-1 so squeezed a small profit there as well.
MikeKeymasterHi Suds
Well technically you beat last years score you just did not quite get to 400 points. π
MikeKeymasterHi
We will have to bump this thread with a bet and now looks a good opportunity so we will go with the following including an each way double over at Naas today.
1.30 Union Station @ 7-5 betting without Icare Desbois and Omniscient
3.15 Gabriel Ranger @ 7-2 betting without Three In A Row and Reve Inoui
We have to use our 15 point wager today so its two 5 point win singles and a 2.5 point each way double.
MikeKeymasterHi
We are still struggling with the each way options as the old enemy are being very mean with there prices. π
But we will try Minella Buddy @ 33-4 for 9 places and Handysonofdan @ 9-1 for 8 places.
We have already used Gabriel Ranger on the exchanges last night on the Ridiculous Ideas for 2024 thread where we backed him at just over 10-1 and have just placed a lay bet this morning at 7-1 to cover our backs. This a new thing we are dabbling with which we will go into slowly as it is a bit difficult to get your head around. π
MikeKeymasterHi
The kiss of death never fails and we came up shy in the last wager. But we still have our all or nothing bet of +23.61 to use up and we have been waiting for tonight so its all in on the following three games.
Crawley v Barrow Over 0 goals in the game + Over 3 corners for both teams @ 10-11
Mansfield v Accrington Over 0 goals for Mansfield + over 4 corners Mansfield + over 2 corners Accrington @ 10-11
Notts County v Stockport Over 0 goals for Stockport + Over 1 goal in the game + Over 3 corners Notts County + Over 2 corners Stockport @ 20-23
This comes out at approximately 5.8-1 on the treble and we will go with 3x 5 point win doubles which leaves a 8.61 treble.
We will also introduce the idea of exchange betting which is something we have not touched on here before as it can be risky and also complicated ie Ridiculous Ideas for 2024. But as an example we have backed Leinster at 11-10 for this weekends Rugby and hope to lay the game later in the week. This is just something we want to try out and will explain it in greater detail later in the week.
MikeKeymasterHi
Our Chris is playing well enough but unfortunately cannot cut it against the big guns at present. π
However this week all the Scheffler’s, McIlroy’s and Cantlay’s etc are playing in the RBC Heritage and our boy is available at 55-1 for 10 places in the Corales Puntacana Championship where the opposition is less daunting. π
So it’s Chris Gotterup all the way we have gone with the 55-1 for 10 places and will also back him at 100-1 on the exchanges hoping to cover our backs with a lay bet if he starts well. You can get 66-1 each way 6 places to be first round leader if you feel bold.
The “exchanges” are something we are currently dabbling with they can be complicated but we have an example here on our new Ridiculous Ideas for 2024 thread and you will probably see more of this type of wager crop up over the next few weeks.
MikeKeymasterHi Suds
Strangely, at about the same time you were posting I was backing Leinster at evens on the exchange’s.π€£
I will flip this idea over to the goalposts thread to try it out. π
As for this thread the next “Ridiculous Idea” is not far off and may revolve around how Gabriel Ranger does in the 3.15 at Naas. This one we put up at 12-1 last night and backed on the exchanges just over 10-1. (Remember you can only take what you get offered). We hope to trade this one off this morning when the markets open up. π¬
MikeKeymasterHi
We will have a dabble tomorrow over at Naas with the following options
1.30 Minella Buddy 50-1
1.30 Handysonofdan 50-1
2.05 Cheerful Chap @ 7-1 for 5 places
2.40 Ayiko @ 7-1
3.15 Gabriel Ranger @ 12-1
4.25 Cullenwaine @ 20-1 for 5 places
We are going with the highlighted options but also with the each way doubles option and will update the 1.30 tomorrow as we are looking for extra markets and they are about as rare as hens teeth at present. π -
