MikeKeymasterHi Rob
It was another misguided boo boo today as the only horse that was meant to be backed on the actual system was Desert Haven which was an “Extra Markets” horse (and came in) but I added in Hesgonethatway to make up the bet builder. Hesgonethatway was a “To Follow” horse who had already won for us Ridiculous Ideas for 2026 and should have been dropped. But my fixation with the bet builder has become an addiction and is driving me bonkers….lol. To prove the point I am going in with another today taken from a brand new list of hurdlers we used to follow that have now gone chasing.
Fairyhouse 5.00 (All for a top ten finish)55-1 plus 25% bonus (bet365) 68.75-1
Kiss Will
Argento Boy
Kurasso Blue
The Enabler
However to prove the worth of the system I am negotiating with another member to take over the base of the thread whilst I dabble with it on the fringes….lol.
MikeKeymasterHi Suds
We all have our favorites and you have done well with this one this season so even though Jack Kennedy has deserted him to ride The Yellow Clay I believe you may yet have the last laugh. You have £5 win @ 13-2 betting without both Kawaboomga & Storm Heart.
Nobody had a winner yesterday and this race could well give one of us a decent start to the month with Kawaboomga, The Yellow Clay & Bowensonfire all in the same race. Lets hope Storm Heart doesn’t ruin the party points wise.
MikeKeymasterHi
I will go with the bet builder option with both of the selections for a top 10 finish @ 5-1 and hope we can stop the rot. !!
MikeKeymasterHi
Just lately I am thinking this thread is turning into a film unfortunately it is beginning to resemble “Custers Last Stand” or the “Alamo”. Having dropped a further 7 points today we now stand at just +10.24 and I need “The Great Escape” to get me out of trouble tomorrow hopefully these two can oblige.
2.05 Hesgonethatway
2.05 Desert Haven
I will be looking for a bet builder when the markets become available.
MikeKeymasterHi Suds
No worries straight win or without the favourite etc ?
MikeKeymasterHi
I do not know whether just rewards are due but one of our Cheltenham non runners is going today and we grabbed a bit of 14-1 for 6 places in the wee hours (having missed the 16-1) and it looks like he is being backed again as now best price 12-1 with most firms going 10-1.
The horse is Coyote Spirit in the 3.00 at Cork he bypassed the festival looks fresh has a decent claimer on board and usually hits the top 6.
Strangely another one previously mentioned in this thread Open Secret who runs from the same yard is a drifter but could still get involved and at 16-1 for 6 places and is worth a look. Options are both for top at 13-2.
MikeKeymasterHi
The slippery slope syndrome continues as I drop another point and am now down to +17.24 but we do see some light at the end of the tunnel as we have a couple that I quite fancy coming up including a “To Follow” horse. Here are tomorrow’s fancies but there will hopefully be a bigger bet this Monday when we have a good spread of runners declared across two meetings.Fairyhouse 1.30 Splendid Fellow 3 points each way at 11-4
Cork 5.15 Tiger Twins 40-1Obviously Splendid Fellow is the “To Follow” horse tomorrow but I am quite keen on Tiger Twins even at 40-1 but the sensible thing to do is wait until the extra markets open up to see if I can get a bet without favorites.
nb. As I was typing there was a move on Tiger Twins with Sky bet so I have taken 1/2 point each way whilst the 40-1 is still available but may go in again on this one when the extra markets open up. I can only get three places at that price but sometimes you get that feeling in your water. It’s probably a urine infection but such is life….lol.
MikeKeymasterHi
We came really close to a decent win last week but we will settle for the three that did even though there was a negotiated technical decision on the boxing.Ospreys +9.5 to beat Connacht @ 10-11 Won
Stratford 2.15 Junker D’allier @ 11-4 Won
Scotland to beat Japan @ 11-5 Lost
GS Warriors -13 to beat WAS Wizards 10-11 (Golden State won but less then the handicap)
Moses Itauma to win by KO against Jermaine Franklin @ 15-8 (Negotiated Win)
Nicolai Hojgaard to win the Houston Open @ 18-1 (One shot down final round came second)
But again no return on the lotto so another win for the thread. For this weeks super six we are trying something different and going with top finishes in the bigger races.Fairyhouse 4.25 Blow Wind Blow Top 3 finish @ 2-1
Fairyhouse 5.00 Mode Avion Top 5 finish @ 9-4
Haydock 5.05 Major Fortune @ 4-1
Ospreys +15 to beat Ulster @ 10-11
(Sunday) Fairyhouse 3.15 Love Me Tender Top 3 finish @ 15-8
(Sunday) Fairyhouse 5.00 Kala Conti Top 3 finish @ 5-2The lottery numbers are the usual 4,7,16,23,26 & 50.
MikeKeymasterHi
We have our first runners of the month going over the weekend and finally I have a few going but nobody is any danger of being caught for the overall lead by my selections…lol. Rob however might get involved with his two who are both overdue for a win.
Saturday
Fairyhouse 4.25 Daydream Nation (Moi)
Sunday
Fairyhouse 3.15 Love Me Tender (Rob,Andy,Joe and Moi)
Fairyhouse 5.00 Jimmy Du Seuil (Rob)
Fairyhouse 5.00 Kala Conti (Moi)
MikeKeymasterHi Rob
Whilst I effectively gave up on the flat many years ago a mark of 100 used to be the equivalent of listed company (I believe) if that is still the case it will make it interesting with Constitution Hill being given a borderline mark of 101. I still have my doubts over Constitution Hill being “over the hill” to be effective above handicap company as I am pretty sure the stats are against him there.
There is the flip side to the coin that a lot of the very useful horses are retired early and that a shrewd trainer might just be able to pick up a (relatively) weak race over the longer trip. ?
I am thinking that will be the ultimate goal here racing is short on heroes at the moment so maybe target one decent race make the record books and retire gracefully (then sell the book…lol). ?
MikeKeymasterHi
With no runners going today and it being the last day of the month Rob will win the March Competition. Again it was a tight run affair with Rob and Suds fighting it out at the end but amazingly disappointing that there were very few winners at the festival. ??Rob +45.25
Suds + 41.74
Andy +39.15
Joe +39.15
Mgame +20.52
Steve +16.38
Moi +9.5Overall Mgame now has the lead thanks to Constitution Hill’s exploits on the flat and apologies for the minor hiccup on not updating the scores for that one but my excel sheet had originally not allowed for that scenario…lol.
Mgame +213.95
Joe +211.73
Suds +186.11
Rob +183.21As for the side cash competition Rob picks up another £5 bet for winning the March competition and as there was no stand out winner for the amount of wins Andy picks up a £5 free bet as he was in the mix and has been so close it only seems fair. There is no prize per say for winning the competition but hope fully this will encourage a few rival sites to join in next time we run one.
Suds +31.88
Mgame +16.25
Rob 2x unused £5 bets
Andy 1x £5 unused free bet
Joe 1x £5 unused free betNow the competition finishes at the end of April so use your £5 free bets by then those who have already got into profit can stick or play again and have the option of splitting there stakes.
MikeKeymasterHi
Take Stock has now drifted out to a more reasonable 7-1 for 4 places but I will look at this from another angle, which is that the yards top jockey Keith Donaghue has switched back to Take Stock for his first attempt over the longer distance indicating some confidence in him getting the trip. The yards other runner Bergamasco is now ridden by Eion Staples a to follow jockey of ours which with his 5lb claim and the revamped weights gives the selection a massive chance of reversing the form with Lough Nigara.
With this in mind I am going in with a 1 point bet builder at 13-5 on both finishing in the top 5.
MikeKeymasterHi
Mgame had Constitution Hill but the +4.14 points won is not going to effect the positions so I will wait the few extra days before totaling at end of the month.
MikeKeymasterHi
Another “To Follow” horse a non runner coupled with another two dropped points in the other markets is looking like a a point well taken but I did say I would persevere with the idea of expanding on last years system so will continue along those lines for the time being.
We are now down to +18. 24 and could do with a return but with Take Stock being the only selection tomorrow and being again just an extra markets horse I will be looking to get a better price then currently available before considering a wager. -
