MikeKeymasterHi Steve
Another cracking bit of tipping there I really thought you had that one in the bag approaching the line. But such is life and it certainly looks to me like you have cracked it. To get one double figure winner in might be considered lucky but to have a 16-1 winner followed by a 14-1 winner topped off with a 11-1 second by a short head is something special.
The fact that all of these have been part of a system that has has been knocking on the door for the last month or so also proves consistency and that is the name of the game. Well done…!
MikeKeymasterHi
I still cannot see any decent extra market offers on out there and now have to go out for most of the day so will take the following as all of them are moving positively price wise and if little else BOG is now available on all of them.Wexford 2.40 The Dancen Kid @ 16-1 for 4 places
Wexford 3.15 Comanche Moon @ 8-1 for 4 places
Uttoxeter 7.55 Fighting Falcon @ 7-1 for 4places
MikeKeymasterHi
My fault last week I was feeling a bit under the weather and tried football bets because it took up less brain power. This meant that Suds and Steve both had winners but I failed to add to the tally.
But with no return on the lottery we claim a no score draw again and go back to normal this week.Ospreys +22.5 to beat Leinster @ 4-5
Newbury 2.00 Golden Orbit @ 6-4
Newmarket 4.37 The Joker @ 9-2
Wexford 4.25 Suoersundae @ 2-1
Newmarket 5.10 Wrydcroft @ 11-10
Navan 5.15 Genchev @ 11-10The lottery numbers are the usual 4,7,16,23,26 and 50.
MikeKeymasterHi
We have three each way extra possibilities tomorrow which are as followsWexford 2.40 The Dancen Kid 28-1
Wexford 3.15 Comanche Moon 11-1
Uttoxeter 7.55 Fighting Falcon 10-1We have nothing this evening but will update with a bet or two sometime in the morning.
MikeKeymasterHi
We Finally we had a “To Follow” horse Loi Des Jeux actually run and win after rule 4 deductions he brought us in +12.15 Charlies Gift placed for +.0.38 but then the day went south with the other two pulling up or tailing off. The bonus on the day for me though was that Loi Dex Jeux had been on the minus list having lost when we had previously backed him and its always nice to tick one of those off the list.
We have nothing for tomorrow but will be back on Friday and will be starting with healthier looking +15.02 balance which considering we were in our first deficit a week ago is a huge relief and I might finally get some sleep now…lol
MikeKeymasterHi
We dropped -3 points yesterday but strangely I am not too disappointed the only two that did not hit the top ten both came 11th in there respective races and although unfortunate was actually a positive result for the new test run. This may be used to start or resurrect an old thread once we look into it.
As for tonight to fill in the gaps we have gone with Charlies gift @ 35-4 for 8 places and have gone with Speakasyoufind and Penny Express both for a top 6 finish @ 9-4.
MikeKeymasterHi Steve
Looks like a star is born that’s two big priced winners in the last two bets the first at 16-1 then today at 14-1 no pressure but you do know your on a hat trick now. I guess you will be leaving us now and writing for the Racing Post…? Well done… !!!
MikeKeymasterHi
I usually wait until today’s runners have finished before revealing tomorrows but the prices have started to move on our “To Follow” horses at so we will post now.Clonmel 5.50 Charlie’s Gift 16-1
Clonmel 6.20 Loi Des Jeux @ 9-2 for 5 places ” To Follow” horse
Clonmel 6.50 Speakasyoufind @ 16-1 for 4 places “To Follow” horse
Clonmel 6.50 Penny Express 7-1We missed the early prices such as 25-1 on Speakasyoufind and we cannot get BOG attached tonight but such is life. We will update the each way extra horses tomorrow.
MikeKeymasterHi
My intriguing 66-1 shot is a non runner but this has given me the opportunity to try out our new bet builder trainer and jockey options.
We will use the same races from last night and list the reason for the selection next to each runner.7.20 Illtakehimmyself (each way extra horse)
7.20 Go To Town (T&J option)
7.20 Elbow Lane (T&J option)
All the above for a top 10 finish @ 5-1
7.50 Journey So Far (each way extra horse)
7.50 Urbs Intacta Manet (each way extra horse)
7.50 Walking In Mayo (T&J option)
7.50 Orlando Spirit (T&J option)
All of the above for a top 10 finish @ 11-2
Both of the above bets are also being used in bet builder double @ 34.75-1I could not help but notice Steve’s tip Oogum Boogum is also running in the 7.50 which could be added into the mix for those that like to walk on the wild side.
MikeKeymasterHi
The each way double made +1.25 then the back up bet lost -1 which makes a nominal +0.25 on the day and takes the running total to+7.59.
We have some interesting runners tomorrow over at Punchestown which are as follows7.20 Illtakehimmyself
7.20 Dearg Mor @ 66-1 for 5 places
7.50 Journey So Far
7.50 Urbs Intacta ManetThis gives us an option of a bet builder double and intriguingly a “To Follow” horse at 66-1 which we have taken tonight. The others are all “Each Way Extra” horses which we will do tomorrow.
MikeKeymasterHi
Sunrise Strider is a non runner but we can now get 5-1 for 7 places on JR Mahon which looks to be a shot to nothing in this instance so we will go in with that one instead using the usual 1/2 point each way extra wager.
Should they all run we might have a bet builder double on the cards at Punchestown tomorrow which pushes the boundaries a bit given our poor start but the blood is flowing again now we have an additional string to the bet builder bow now.
MikeKeymasterHi
Thanks for the comments but I will firstly confess that although four of the five of yesterdays bets either won or placed I was actually disappointed as after deductions on the early bets I only came out with +11.40 and had to shell out 7 points to achieve that.
Foolishly I really believed that Splendid Fellow was a banker for the win and with being confident over the bet builder I will still look back on this one as a coulda, woulda, shoulda kind of day.
In reality I should have gone for Splendid Fellow in the bet builder for top 4 instead of top 7 as it was 18-1 etc etc but maybe I am lacking the faith lately.
The good news is we are back in profit now standing at +7.34 and do have a few going today.Killarney 6.10 Coul Dreamer @ 5-1 without Treasure Rose
Killarney 8.10 Tim Toe @~ 5-1 without Sky Captain
1/2 point each way double
Sligo 6.28 JR Mahon @ 7-1 for 5 places
Sligo 7.28 Sunrise Strider 12-1 for 5 places BOG attachedSunrise Strider is a “To Follow” horse so is 2 points each way and JR Mahon is a reserve and we may update later. Both Coul Dreamer and Tim Toe are running on the flat so we thought a minimum stakes each way double would be the best option.
MikeKeymasterHi Rob
Apologies I was a bit tied up today trying to get myself out of trouble on my Ridiculous Ideas for 2026 thread and did not have time to join in on this one.
I have certainly looked into matched bets but found the odds were a little limited for me. However this would not stop me playing multiple selections through one of the Irish meetings where all our data would (hopefully) come to the fore. As well as the trainer and jockey data Suds and I are working on this year, I have been resurrecting and updating my old horses for courses article (from back in the day). When all of this is finished we are hoping to hit one specific (Irish) meeting covering all types of bets/wagers.
With this in mind next time you have a dabble let me know it could be an idea for the The Bletchley Park Gang thread. ?
MikeKeymasterHi
It is unfortunate that both my 33-1 outsiders are running in a hot looking race by way of the 5.05 but it is an opportunity to try and explain why I am persisting with the expanded ideas in this years thread and how we are looking to turn it around.
Firstly we have gone with the 14-1 for all three to be placed in the top 7 it was going to be 8 places but there has been another non runner.
Splendid Fellow is self explanatory and is meant to be a banker for top 7 being the “To Follow” horse.
Happy Me has shown ability and has improved over hurdles and the swing factor for us (Suds has been involved) is the jockey booking Alan O’Sullivan. Now Alan is not a household name but has a decent 7lb claim and more importantly usually runs a horse to its best finishing position.
Tiger Twins is the flip side of the coin in that the trainer Eoin Christopher McCarthy has a decent record of getting his horses to finish in the top half of the field. Both of these were available @ 25-4 for 8 places which we thought was the best option.
I hope that gives you an idea where we are going with this as wheres there’s a problem (in this case bet builders) we believe there is a solution.
The topic of “riding out for the best possible place” (rule 151) has over the years been a bone of contention as the horses welfare (quite rightly) has become paramount. But unfortunately this has led to the rule being abused but our home work suggests there are some trainers and jockeys who still (fortunately) play the game.
Having now given you a few ridiculous reasons on 33-1 & 40-1 runners in a hot race I can quite happily sit back and watch both fight out last place (there’s no fool like an old fool) and hide few for a few days until the embarrassment wears off.
But for better for worse that’s what we do on here and I can always blame the medication I am on, old age, the ground condition’s changing or…divine intervetion. After 50 years of losing money I am never short on excuses……lol. -
