Well more than happy with that a 3 point win on Brunel Charm @ 11-2 gave us +16.5 added to the +3.75 made us +20.25 going into the last race. Unfortunately that lost and it was obviously now a 4 point bet so we ended up with only a +16.25 profit on the day which we are more than happy with but had Stargazer won the total on the day could have so easily been a +38.25 day.
The most pleasing aspect of the result is that we have tried the bet three times and it has won three times which hopefully proves a point and although we will give it another go this looks the way to go.

I can see this one going to the wire again as Dr Waksam lost for -1 Jet To Vegas then won @ 7-4 to put us +0.75 up. The bet then went up to 2 points where Land Genie and Nab Wood both placed but this then put us -3.25. Lift Me Up won but at 7-2 betting without which means we are now +3.75 with two races to go but the next bet is up top 3 points. Brunel Charm is currently 11-2 without Prince Of Bel Lir and Starfighter is currently 9-2 without Esticky End.
If both fail to win we are going to be -2.25 for the day if either win we are up for the day. If nothing else this rolling maul wager keeps you on your toes and lets hope we do not come to a Sticky end in the last (sorry could not resist that).

We drew a blank with the standard wagers yesterday but will go with Port Noir today at 14-1 for 3 places with option B being 11- 1 for 4 places.
Of more interest to me will be our third attempt at the rolling maul wager on the following list supplied to me last night by Hopefull just to see if we could make it three from three profitable days using this system.

Not what we would have liked to start with but it could have been worse. It has however given us an opportunity to show you how this would work. Assuming we wanted to follow each horse until it made a set profit of say over 10 points (just to avoid dealing in fractions) we have the following scenario after day one.
Happy Me would have been backed at 2 points each way @ 9-2 which would have made 10.8 profit if it had won but having placed means we are -0.20 on this one.
Big Dispute was backed at 0.5 of a point each way @ 18-1 and is now -1 point
These losses would need to be added to each runner the next time we back them so Happy Me would now be backed to win 10.2 points and Big Dispute to win 11 points.
I will be putting up the 5 and 6yo’s and Suds will be placing the wagers on the 4yo’s (all taken from our data base).

Well it was not a tremendous return but I Am Max won at 1 point for + 4 which means the next two which lost were both 2 point bets but lost for (-2 x 2) -4 meant once again we were in last chance saloon with a 2 point wager on Cut To The Chase which won so we ended up with only a +2 point profit as the price had shortened by then. But it means we have had two tries at this and made a small return both times there are riskier versions of the rolling maul but that’s for another thread for now.
Plumette placed which was another + 1 point on that bet so it was not a bad day all round.
Today we have the two standard wagers which are as follows

Ideal Des Brosses without Muskoka 1 point @ 7-4 won = -0.25 (stake goes up to 2 points)
Benmore without Juventus De Brion 2 points @ 13-8 lost = -2.25
Eternal Angel 2 points @ 1-3 lost = -4.25
Rattling Road 2 points @ 6-4 won = -1.25 (stake goes up to 3 points)

As the thread has been a little quiet of late and even though Jikala did indeed get placed for a small profit the other day, Hopefull sent me an e-mail last night with the following list of selections for today.

The idea being can we do something with them(as they are shorter prices) apart from the obvious doubles and trebles which in this case would be option A. The only option we can think of is to use the rolling maul system which have used in the past (with some success) to see if we can build up the stakes to form an accumulator.
We will try it out and compare the returns tonight or tomorrow morning just to see what happens. For those unfamiliar with the rolling maul system this will be a useful example thread. Firstly we need to ensure we have obtained the optimum chance of a win as these will all be win bets. We do this by giving an edge to the proposed selections that are not at the head of the betting market by betting without the favourite/s. The tricky part will then be getting our first winner to start the maul off but once going you then have the option of driving forward or going sideways by splitting your stakes but you cannot take a backward step….lol.
Hopefully you will get the idea as the day progresses. The first bet is Theonewedreamof at 3-1 with Skybet. The second bet would then be Ideal Des Bordes @ 7-4 betting without Muskoka (bet365) then Benmore @ 13-8 without Juventus De Brion etc etc.
