Hi
Bit of a let down as Almuht and Cosmic Blizzard are both non runners but we did manage to get 19-1 for 9 places on Rodney in the 4.40.
Jeronimo De L’ouch who also runs in the same race is an unlikley winner but at 10-1 for 4 places is probably worth a punt on a quiet day.05/03/2024 at 5:43 PM #16897MikeKeymasterHi
Two non runners and Jeronimo De L’ouch placed at 14-1 (BOG) with bet365 so not a total disaster on the day but the big disappointment was Rodney who either Fell or Pulled Up. π
We have nothing now until Saturday. !09/03/2024 at 9:17 AM #16937MikeKeymasterHi
There are a shortage of races on offer as we head to the festival next week but one particular race over at Gowran Park has caught our eye.
2.10 Angostura the 4-5 favourite we have used for the Beat The Lotto (Β£) thread.
2.10 Manatee Du Brizais 50-1 but we gone with 17-1 for 8 places.
For those looking for a standard punt at a decent price we have the following option
3.20 Bloomhill @ 16-1 for 5 places10/03/2024 at 11:42 AM #16951MikeKeymasterHi
Apologies for the not posting last night but old age does not come alone. We have two Irish meetings today and here are the first batch over at Naas
1.07 Whale Harbour @ 9-2
1.07 Shraheen 150-1 we have taken 22-1 for 10 places
1.42 Mirazur West @ 4-5 (Ten To Follow)
2.17 Ivane @ 14-1 for 5 places (We have 18-1 this one is a market mover)
2.17 Ragmans Corner 25-1 we have taken 12-1 for 10 places
2.52 No Big Deal @ 22-1 for 5 places
2.52 Warmer Days Ahead 66-1 but we have taken 18-1 for 10 places
3.17 Howdoyoulikeherhome @ 12-1 for 4 places10/03/2024 at 12:13 PM #16957MikeKeymasterHi
We unfortunately do not have enough time to cover Limerick in any depth as we are looking to have a dabble withΒ Mike’s Retirement Plan today and we need to update theΒ Ten To Follow thread but in the 3.45 we will be keeping an eye out for Onebrightbluerose 100-1 as the price without both favourites for 2 places was worth a punt at 50-1 but the non runner has screwed that bet up if you just logged on.
As for Yesterday Angostura duly won for our Beat The Lotto (Β£) thread Manatee Du Brizais was a non runner and Bloomhill unfortunately did not blossom. π
We are having a few tickles on the Irish racing today as we try and build up to the festival next week and will update all the threads by the end of the day. π10/03/2024 at 7:39 PM #16994MikeKeymasterHi
Not too shoddy a day today the theme for the day seems to be the word ‘Placed‘.
1.07 Whale Harbour @ 9-2 (lost)
1.07 Shraheen 150-1 we have taken 22-1 for 10 places (Placed)
2.17 Ivane @ 14-1 for 5 places (Placed)
2.17 Ragmans Corner 25-1 we have taken 12-1 for 10 places (Placed)
2.52 No Big Deal @ 22-1 for 5 (lost)
2.52 Warmer Days Ahead 66-1 but we have taken 18-1 for 10 places (Placed)
3.17 Howdoyoulikeherhome @ 12-1 for 4 places (Placed)
The day ended up +6.60 mainly due to bad decisions on my part but a profit is a profit. The best news of the day was that all three of our each way extra’s placed and all were used on the Mikes Retirement Plan thread. π
Unfortunately with Cheltenham starting on Tuesday we will have to take a punt without our spreadsheets as the Irish racing will now be on hold whilst the festival is on. π11/03/2024 at 10:21 AM #17017MikeKeymasterHi
Here is a cheeky one to start the week off Suds when chatting online with me about the spreadsheet had noticed that one of the Irish runners in the database was racing at Taunton today.
Now this can often happen when the racing is thin on the ground and an opportunity is seen further afield. Today Patrick Griffin has taken two runners across the sea to Taunton and one of them Lake Manzaleh is having his handicap debut. We have decided to go with a cheeky each way double but to take the cash out option but only if Lake Manzaleh wins.
3.10 Lake Manzaleh @ 14-1 for 4 places
4.40 Joke Dancer @ 8-1 for 4 places
The extra places and prices this morning are with Sky Bet. π11/03/2024 at 7:40 PM #17020MikeKeymasterHi
Well that went well π Lake Manzaleh pulled up and Joke Dancer fell but at least it was only a cheeky double so no damage done. π We are left with Cheltenham all week which is a great spectacle but from a betting prospective is a difficult ask. Hence our main wager everyday will be the placepot.
We will use our Ten To Follow selections as a base for this bet tomorrow.
1.30 no 8 Mystical Power
1.30 no 5 Jeriko Du Reponet
2.10 no 3 Gaelic Warrior
2.10 no 5 Il Etait Temps
2.50 no 17 Chianti Classico
2.50 no 22 Weveallbeencaught
2.50 no 16 Twig
3.30 no 3 Irish Point
4.10 no 1 Ashroe Diamond
4.50 no 15 Lark In The Mornin
4.50 no 7 Milan Tino
My particular set of selections are based on 2x banker bets (to be placed) and extra selections in the big handicap races. To work out the stakes you must times the number of selections in each race by the number of selctions in the other races ie with mine it would be 2 x2 x 3 x 1 x 1 x 2=24. That means the bet will cost 24xΒ whatever stake you choose ie 10p = Β£2.40 at minimum stakes. The bet is a pool bet similar to the lottery whereby it depends how many winners there are as to what share you recieve. But is a bit of fun and you can win big if you get lucky (especially if the favourites do not get win or get placed).
11/03/2024 at 8:19 PM #17025ClarenceParticipantHiya Mike, this sounds a bit of fun for not much money, I have got my Cheltenham bet in with my winnings from the beat the lotto ππ so a little dabble here will make watching the races even more exciting π€π
My selections are very similar to yours.
1.30 No 8, Mystical Power and No 5, Jeriko Du Reponet
2.10 No 3, Gaelic Warrior and No 5, Il Etait Temps
2.50 No 17, Chianti Classico and No 5, Monbeg Genius
3.30 No 3, Irish Point
4.10 No 1, Ashroe Diamond
4.50 No 1, Liari and No 5 Eagle Fang
Good luck π€βοΈ12/03/2024 at 10:56 AM #17026MikeKeymasterHi
We have had a request to put a couple of Cheltenham long shots down (as we used to back in the day π ) so here are our pricewise tips for the day….lol.
2.50 Excello @ 33-1 for 7 places
Excello being an ex French horse who raced primarily on Heavy ground should appreciate the extra cut in the ground today and although he has not set the world alight since racing over here was a decent sort in France. Excello when racing in France won all his races from the front so if the yard believe stamina is not an issue today, you might see this grey go off in front and try and make all the running.
4.50 An Bradan Feasa @ 25-1 for 6 places
An Bradan Feasa has been clocking some serious times all season. This one has course and distance form the yard is in cracking form and although beaten 8 lengths by (todays current favourite) Liari last time out, has a reasonable pull in the weights today and might be worth a look.
But bear in mind with these two races they are minefields of possibilities with over 20 runners in both of them so I would be thinking to take any reasonable price for as many places as you can get. π12/03/2024 at 7:09 PM #17039MikeKeymasterHi
The two long shots ran well enough considering the huge fields and tough going with Exello in the lead group all the way round until giving up and pulling up in the boggy ground. An Bradan Feasa ran a cracker but faded into eight place on the run in.
It was a different story however with our race selections used for the placepot which were as follows
1.30 no 8 Mystical Power 2nd
1.30 no 5 Jeriko Du Reponet lost
2.10 no 3 Gaelic Warrior 1st
2.10 no 5 Il Etait Temps 3rd
2.50 no 17 Chianti Classico 1st
2.50 no 22 Weveallbeencaught lost
2.50 no 16 Twig 2nd
3.30 no 3 Irish Point 2nd
4.10 no 1 Ashroe Diamond lost
4.50 no 15 Lark In The Mornin 1st
4.50 no 7 Milan Tino lost
With this in mind we just have to dabble again tomorrow with the following
1.30 no 3 Il Atlantique
1.30 No 7 Predators Gold
2.10 no 2 Fact To File
2.10 no 4 Monty’s Star
2.50 no 11 Jigaro
2.50 no 21 Doddiethegreat
3.30 no 3 Edwardstone
3.30 no 8 Jonbon
4.10 no 2 Coko Beach
4.10 no 10 Minello Indo
4.50 no 2 Saint Roi
4.50 no 7 Calico
Best of luck to all who play tomorrow and if your looking for long shots I would not put you off either of the following, who are mentioned in the placepot and both have Best Odds Guaranteed.
2.50 Jigoro @ 12-1 for 8 places
4.50 Calico @ 22-1 for 6 places12/03/2024 at 9:48 PM #17043ClarenceParticipantHiya, I haven’t done my placepot yet but how about this for a longshot π«£π
1.30, Jingko Blue 3/1
2.10, Sandor Clegane 4/1
2.50, Might I 10/1
3.30, Captain Guinness 2/1
4.10, Coko Beach 11/10
4.50, Sa Fureur 13/2
5.30, Teeshan 9/1
I have done them in a seven fold betting without the favourites, and if they all come in I retire early ππ
And doubles without favourites for a bit of fun. good luck tomorrow π€βοΈπ€13/03/2024 at 4:27 AM #17044MikeKeymasterHi Suds
Everyone is trying to jump on the retirement band wagon….lol. When it comes to Cheltenham it’s a nightmare especially when the ground comes up testing but I would be surprised if you didn’t get a run for money with your selections.ππ€13/03/2024 at 10:01 AM #17045MikeKeymasterHi
Two bits of bad news for Cheltenham punters this morning the first is that the 4.10 the Cross Country Chase has been abandoned as the ground is waterlogged. The second is that Nicky Henderson is pulling his runners as it believed there is a health issue at the yard as his runners yesterday ran well below par. π
This is some compensation for us as we had tipped up Excello (one of the yards runners) yesterday at a huge price only for the horse to tamely drop out and pull up two out. We also had another of the yards runners Jeriko Du Reponet in our main section which also pulled up so we may well keep an eye on both of these should they run again before the season finishes.
This has thrown our plans into chaos but that is why we usually stick to Irish Maiden racing and now treat the festival meeting as a spectacle to watch rather than to bet in. π
We will revamp our placepot (below) as under the new setup you will need to put just one entry in the abandoned 4.10 race and it will be deemed a winning selection.1.30 no 3 Il Atlantique
1.30 no 7 Predators Gold
2.10 no 2 Fact To File
2.10 no 4 Montyβs Star
2.50 no 11 Jigaro
2.50 no 21 Doddiethegreat
3.30 no 3 Edwardstone
3.30 no 2 Captain Guiness (to replace Jonbon)
4.10 no 2 Coko Beach (counted as winner)
4.50 no 2 Saint Roi
4.50 no 7 Calico -
