MikeKeymasterHi
Although there were no returns all of the above ran well and were worth a try as wild card wagersGowran Park 2.10 Bop Won’t Stop 20-1 (placed 5th without Grimaud)
Gowran Park 3.15 Cozone @ 25-1 for 5 places (finished 8th of 20 runners at 33-1)
Gowran Park 4.25 Dutch Shultz @ 20-1 for 4 places (placed 5th we needed 4th)We probably will not be back until the festival next week now where we will be mainly on the threads mentioned on the previous post.

MikeKeymasterHi
Unfortunately I am a bit pushed for time today as priorities take place (I am about to be come a grandad and am on standby) but we will put a placepot down utilizing our selections for the first day of the festival. At the very least you will know what we are backing, we have had to put a short priced supposedly bankers in but such is life. Some have already been placed Winning Post Tips but a few are new options. We have kept it simple with 2 selections in each race for the first day.1.20 Kopek Des Bordes
1.20 William Munny
2.00 L’eau Du Sud
2.00 Majborough
2.40 Broadway Boy
2.40 The Short Go
3.20 Jade De Grugy
3.20 Joyeuse
4.00 Constitution Hill
4.00 Golden Ace
4.40 Sony Bill
4.40 Hot Fuss12/03/2025 at 9:45 AM #19512
MikeKeymasterHi
No placepot yesterday but at £11,050.70 to a £1 stake I am pretty sure not many people did…lol.
But from our perspective with most of the big guns coming unstuck it did us a favour as it made Golden Ace a winner coming in at 25-1. This saved the day as we had not backed the only other winner form the list Kopek Des Bordes as it was too short a price. Of the double figure prices we had gone with William Munny advised @ 12-1, The Short Go 11-1 and Hot Fuss (taken @ 10-1) all placed. Joyeuse, Broadway Boy and Sony Bill all lost but it was decent enough start to the festival albeit a tad lucky.
Unfortunately its now confession time my main bet on Golden Ace was backed at 10-1 without Constitution Hill but racing is all about coulda, shoulda, woulda.
Today see’s me back on baby watch but today’s bets apart from our ante post ones (already mentioned in previous posts) are taken from our late wager last night on Resplendent Grey. It only placed again but so impressed was I with the run given by Sen Bowen I will be taking a punt on his rides today for the thread.
He has the following going all for different but respected yards and all look decent each way shouts.2.40 Might I @ 40-1 or 33-1 for 8 places with skybet
3.20 The Goffer @ 16-1 or 14-1 for 5 or 12-1 for 6 skybet
4.40 Western Zephyr @ 40-1 for 5 or 33-1 for 6 skybet
5.20 Heads Up @ 33-1 or 28-1 for 5 places skybetI have put the extra place options up as at Cheltenham they are usually the best option when dealing with long shots at big prices.

MikeKeymasterHi
Well a tad unlucky yesterday but Sean Bowen had two placed in The Goffer advised 16-1 and Heads Up advised at 33-1 and whichever way you played them you would have come out with a small profit.
I have a bit more time on my hands today and will put up the selections we have backed at Cheltenham.1.20 Galileo Dame @ 4-1 for 4 places
1.20 Jane Eire 80-1 but 50-1 for 5 places looks the option
2.00 Firefox taken @ 7-1 for 6 places
2.00 Moon D’Orange @ 14-1 for 6 places
2.40 Feet Of A Dancer 9-1 but @ 8-1 for 7 places
2.40 Shanagh Bob 25-1 but @ 20-1 for 7 places
3.20 Fact To File @ 7-4
4.00 The Wallpark @ 9-2 for 4 places
4.40 Jagwar @ 7-2 for 5 places
4.40 Fugitif @ 20-1 for 5 places
5.20 Git Maker @ 14-1 for 5 placesNow the way Cheltenham has been going it could be a disaster today but the shorter priced ones will be done in each way doubles. While obviously the double figure runners will be each way singles.

MikeKeymasterHi
We managed to get a win double and 9 place doubles up which made a tidy enough profit. However with all the outsiders going down it ruined the day a bit. But we scraped another profit on the day and that is always the aim. The bonus was Catch Him Derry also placing which gave us something back on our antepost bet from a few weeks ago. Although we are still in profit Cheltenham has proved frustrating this year and although we have had a reasonable week so far lets go all or nothing on the last day.1.20 Opec 150-1 for 4 places
2.00 Valgrand @ 10-1 for 5 places
3.20 Intense Approach @ 16-1 but 12-1 for 5 places looks the bet
4.40 Shearer @ 11-1 for 4 places
5.20 Nurse Susan @ 16-1 for 5 places14/03/2025 at 12:11 AM #19525
ClarenceParticipantWell as it’s the last day at Cheltenham I will join in with a cheeky bet 😄
1.20 Blue Lemons 14/1
2.00 Ethical Diamond 14/1
2.40 Shecouldbeanything 16/1
3.20 Argento Boy 10/1
4.00 Monties Star 10/1
4.40 Shearer 10/1
In doubles 🤞 just a bit of fun for the last day and good luck Mike ☺️14/03/2025 at 10:26 AM #19526
MikeKeymasterHi Suds
Best of luck and nice to see you having a go. I have been asked to put up the best bets for each way multiples similar to yesterday but as we are going all in and these are shorter prices I will go with each way trebles.1.20 East India Dock @ 13-8 for 4 places
2.00 Lark In The Morning @ 4-1 for 6 places
2.40 Dino Blue @ 6-4
3.20 Wingmen 10-1 but @ 9-1 for 5 places
5.20 Kopek De Mee @ 9-4 for 6 places14/03/2025 at 5:58 PM #19527
MikeKeymasterHi
Well having scraped a profit in the first three days I went all in today and although having a winner and a place I manged to turn the profit into a loss and all in one day which is a record for me on this site. However I finally became a grandad last night so all in all it was a stressful but good week. The Festival has as mentioned in a previous post long since been a graveyard for the threads which is why we stopped the Cheltenham thread a few years ago. It is a great spectacle but as a betting proposition not worthwhile unless you are privy to some of the gambles that have been laid out.
Suds did a bit better with Ethical Diamond 14-1 and Shecouldbeanything 16-1 both placing and was also a tad unlucky with Montys Pass finishing fourth we needed third and Shearer (who we both had) finishing fifth by a nose when we wanted fourth.
Now the festival is over we can get back to the Irish Racing on the usual threads. I know I have not been around much over the last week with more pressing priorities and although there is racing at Thurles tomorrow I may miss that while I catch up on some sleep…lol.16/03/2025 at 7:43 PM #19541
MikeKeymasterHi
Having suffered the “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune” on the last day of Cheltenham we will try a recovery mission using our staple fayre of Irish Hurdlers which we have posted on Speed Ratings Irish Hurdlers . But here’s a race we are keen to keep an eye on namely over at Down Royal.3.02 Seasett @ 16-1 or Sir Carnegie @ 16-1 both or either for 6 places
We have a theory on this race which is a bit off the wall but we will be looking for market movers ?. The same applies to the following although this one has already been backed over at Wexford.
1.35 Midnight Eagle was 200-1 with betfair now @ 25-1
29/03/2025 at 11:05 AM #19602
MikeKeymasterHi
As suspected although we did not get a market mover in the 3.02 Seasett became a non runner and Sir Carnegie although only finishing 7th ran a blinder at 50-1 and will be worth noting later on. The same trainer has Hewick running in the Grand National and that one has already attracted a bit attention.
The other one mentioned in the last post Midnight Eagle opened at 200-1 and went all the way down to 14-1 and although not winning is part of something we are working on around market movers.
Having mentioned the Grand National with relation to Hewick, as per usual we have been asked for our selections and I will have a chat with my (current) co conspirators to see if they wish to put one or two up but bear in mind as with Cheltenham this would not usually be a race we would normally cover and as a betting prospect should be treated as a bit of fun.
To start the ball rolling having mentioned Hewick where the big prices have already gone I would not put anyone off backing Mr Vango the 40-1 has gone but the 33-1 for 6 places with Sky looks a good shout with Non Runner No Bet attached.30/03/2025 at 3:00 PM #19612
ClarenceParticipantHiya , I will go with Meeting of the waters 20/1 ☺️👍🤞
05/04/2025 at 11:49 AM #19639
MikeKeymasterHi
My Mr Vango is a non runner so in the tradition of the long shot punt on this site we will go with Fil Dor still available at 80-1 with William Hill this morning for 6 places. Iroko looks the safer bet (but is is a bit short in price), so Beauport at 22-1 for 7 places with Betfred looks generous as the next best.11/04/2025 at 8:39 PM #19665
MikeKeymasterHi
Iriko placed but was not the big priced option we were looking for in the Grand National so we will go all in and put up Mr Incredible for the Scottish National tomorrow. His form reads UP-PRP and as he is carrying top weight so all the stats are against him even if he starts the race (which is fifty fifty as is he is an awkward sod). But such is life he has the ability but not the temperament but at 100-1 he might just have a going day.20/04/2025 at 7:21 PM #19697
MikeKeymasterHi
Mr incredible was always going to be an iffy punt but I am convinced one day he will turn up….lol.
We have a bet tomorrow using a mixed bag of selections taken from a few of the threads which Suds and I have turned into a personal competition here are mine.Cork 1.50 Queen Of Seduction @ 14-1 for 5 places
Fairyhouse 2.05 Aurea Fortuna @ 16-1 for 5 places
Fairyhouse 3.15 Hamsiyaan @ 15-2 for 6 places
Fairyhouse 3.50 Gala Marceau @ 15-2 for 4 places
Fairyhouse 5.00 Quai De Bourbon @ 10-1 for 6 places -
