Good And Clever and Storm Heart both placed but Search For Glory lost out so no great shakes either way today but for tomorrow we have decided to have a little competition where Suds and I will pick a set of 10 each way doubles and an accumulator to see who wins the most or maybe more to the point who loses the least on the day. Feel free to join in but it must be on the same the races as listed below and the prices must be taken from Paddy Power to ensure a level playing Field.
The races are all at Punchestown and my selections are as follows.

One win two places might not be much to shout about but the main purpose of the match was to try something out for Cheltenham and we will try this out using trebles today at Fairyhouse which is a bet along the same lines.

Now I know the Non Runner helped but the 35-1 placed horse boosted the returns no end. I know we could have had 100-1 on that last night and this morning but betting without the favourite’s had to be the shout as we were close to a win with that today.
However as this was only the second try at this bet the 10 1 point each way trebles and each way accumulator made a whopping +140 profit on the day which was a early birthday present for me.

Thanks it’s nice when they come in but embarrassing when you put up a 100-1 shot at 35-1 and the bugger gets placed…lol.
We are going to try another of the bets soon as we prepare for Cheltenham but obviously we will need at least two banker bets as a base for the bet and which two to use is the 64 dollar question.
As for today we will just throw a cheeky each way double in (the old enemy hate these…lol)

Churchman is a non runner and no sooner had we revamped the bet, as we had a back up horse (Inchiquin Spirit) that was also declared a non runner which is really limiting our options. ?

Waittillitellyou won at 11-1 having drifted out all morning but with both the runners at Chepstow being non runners and Fire Dancer pulling up it was a no score draw on the day for my bet as the treble became a double the doubles singles etc and at last nights 5-1 we got our money back.
Obviously had you had ab et with BOG or taken the bigger price you woere quids in but I was not that lucky today but I lost nothing so we live to fight another day (which will probably be Thursday).

Now ridiculously we have used Ar Nos Na Gaothie in the 2.55 as the wager (without the actual selection which was Pheonix Cowboy) but the handicap races tend to throw up multiple selections so we had to go with old fashioned instinct (that’s never a good idea..lol).

Well it was not a disaster as experiments go but with only one winner Ar Nos Na Gaothie and two placed Saint Le Fort and Union Station we would have got beaten up on the day which is disappointing especially after the last few trials we have undertaken which all proved successful.
We will take a backseat for a few days to decide whether we try mixing the threads up again as it might just have been a bad day or whether mixing all the threads up was a step too far. ?

After holding a postmortem and finding that one of the horses finished with blood in both nostril’s apart from feeling sorry for the horse it made the losing bet more explainable. We have a list of horses that we could use for a similar bet listed on  Speed Ratings Irish Hurdlers but we will see if the racing goes ahead tomorrow.
Alternatively we have a shortlist of horses all at decent prices earmarked for Cheltenham in March which we usually go in with early doors.

The first of the wagers has been placed using the original list but at the following prices and place options and as usual we will stick with the each way doubles all bets are non runner no bet. We have decided to go in early as our original prices were disappearing faster than we had anticipated. A five fold accumulator is the final piece of the puzzle as they all stand (we think) a reasonable chance of hitting the frame.
