Ridiculous Ideas for 2025

I had a query from one of our returning members over why Fool Me Once was a nightmare bet for me and why I was unhappy with the previous winner Alright Darling even though he won at 9-1.
So for those who missed the start of this thread the idea was to try and make a minimum 10 point profit from each horse then drop the horse from the thread.
Now Alright Darling was -2 at the time so by backing him at only 1 point each way I would have made a 10.80 profit but because he was already -2 I effectively have only made an 8.8 point profit on him as I should have had 1.5 points on him.
The same applies to Fool Me Once who is my nightmare horse as he is currently -17 points and even at the current price of 16-1 will cost me 1.5 each way as the possible return of 28.80 minus the 17 point defict would me a profit on the horse of +11.8 the double whammy for me is that should he lose today he would be the first horse on this thread to a achieve a deficit of -20 points and would have to make consider dropping him away and taking the hit of -20.
So I have gone with the 1.5 points 16-1 (BOG attathched) for 4 places (bet365) but its squeeky bum time for me with this one today.

The nightmare continues with Fool Me Once as I needed fourth he came fifth and this one is going to be a real test of faith but with only a couple of months to go he could be the one disappointment on the 2025 thread. We only dropped the -3 points by backing him again which leaves us now on +162.50 but individually Fool Me Once is now -20.
I will hopefully be back on Thursday with a wager over at Clonmel.

No joy today but I was getting impatient so it was self inflicted as I dropped 3 points there and am now on +159.50. But we have one from the list tomorrow over at Wexford.

2.22 Bannow Blaze @ 100-30 for 4 places. Unfortunately although placing for us last time out he is still in a deficit and will cost us 3.5 points each way which is a 7 point drop if he fluffs his lines and misses the frame altogether.

Well we got back on track today with Bannow Blaze for a nice little +14 point profit the only disappointment was it is taking me a little longer than expected to get back in the swing of things as Bannow Blaze was -4.6 this morning so will only make +9.4 points on the main sheet whereas the target was to make 10+ points on each selection.
But that takes us back up to +173.50 points overall with just over two months to go so it would take a near disaster to crash and burn this thread. ? I have nothing now until Thursday but it could be a busy weekend if the declared runners go to post.
With that in mind I will start working on a ridiculous idea for 2026 or with a few members back on possibly a shift in direction of the site. ?

We have one going at Thurles tomorrow which will be another Kit Kat challenge as Suds has Found A Diamond in the same race. Mine is another new horse which has not been a good move of late but sometimes you just have to go for it.

I had that coming pride before a fall…lol. I have two going tomorrow both in the same race over at Cork. Unless they both fall or dead heat I can surely award myself a kit kat. ??

I have taken the above price and differing place options as both are already in deficit at -2 which means Miss Mini Bee @ 7-1 can be 1.5 points each way and Space warrior 1 point each way.

We had both of the runners from our previous post finish 5th and 6th when 4th would have been nice but that’s just the way the weekend went…lol. We have one tomorrow which goes at Fairyhouse but as it is already – 10 so we will have to go 1 point each way. However we can get an each way extra price on it for 7 places which would clear the deficit and still give us our +10 profit.

3.15 Dream Shaper 33-1 but 17-1 for 7 places is the bet.

We had a non runner last time out with Dream Shaper but hopefully have one going tomorrow over at Clonmel. This one will be another kit kat challenge as Suds has “If You Believe” in the same race.

We managed a place with Big Dispute so made a nominal profit but we have our worst nightmare running tomorrow at Fairyhouse.

3.28 Fool Me Once @ 8-1 for 5 places.

This one is far and away likely to be the only disappointment for this thread as Fool Me Once is already -20 points. It was very tempting to give this one up but we will go in and at least try and recoup or losses if not a full profit.
With this in mind we are looking to go in with a 2.5 point each way wager tomorrow and will update later tonight.

I had another non runner in Fool Me Once due to the racing being abandoned on Tuesday and I do not hold out too much hope for the racing at Punchestown tomorrow but if it does go ahead we have this one declared.

We will have to go in with 1.5 points each way as its another one in deficit but such is life.

A good day today Miss Mini Bee placed at 14-1 and Hillstar Blues won (25-1) but I had only taken 18-1. I usually wait for BOG on my bets but as both of these horses were in a deficit and the outlay was only 1 point each way on both I was happy at the time. Had I waited I could have had the 25-1 but then it would have been borderline as to whether to reduce my stakes. Racing is all “Swings and Roundabouts” but utlimately I am happy with the result.
The profit on the day was +23.40 but more importantly it removed another horse from the list and reduced the deficit on another. I am highlighting this as my jinx horse for this thread is running tomorrow and I swore I would drop this one but with only a month to go and now back up to +190.30 running total I just have to go for it.

I am not lost on the irony of the fact that this horse has fooled me five times already but the idea of the thread was to follow them until they win, The bad news is he is already -20 and will be the one big disappointment for me on this thread is if he fools me again tomorrow. The bet will have to 2.5 points each way to clear the deficit and make my 10 point profit (target) per horse….squeeky time.
