Apologies for a lack of general updates but we take the flat season as a time out to do the garden etc and this year rewire and fit a kitchen etc (retirement is not all its cracked up to be…lol). But we will be back in full flow shortly so expect the Ten To Follow etc to start up shortly. Here is a full update of this thread for those still following it.

5.22 Dream Shaper (16-1 for 6 is availble) but we will go with 25-1 for 5 places as BOG will be attached shortly.

But Suds has just told me I have two going tomorrow over at Listowel (both in the 3.15).

I finally got home last night and given a few days recovery and time to play catch up updating etc I hope to have the site back in full swing by the end of the month. 👍
No joy the either of my runners yesterday but as both were big prices at minimum stakes it only cost us a couple of points.
We have just the one at Listowel tomorrow which is in the 4.00.

Another loss with Fool Me Once today and he was already in a deficit so ended up costing us double bubble at -4 points. The biggest problem here is that he is declared to run again tomorrow and looks like being the horse that will drag this thread like an anchor unless he does something soon. We have two going tomorrow at Listowel and could do with a change of luck.

It’s been a while and although we have three going they are all in the same race at Clonmel and none look particularly inspiring. But we have to follow the system and although I am a bit behind with updating the data base all of tomorrows runners are outsiders with no huge outstanding deficits so will not cost us too much if it’s a bad day.

Not too bad a result today with both Alright Darling 25-1 and Princess Felicia 28-1 both placing. Charlies Gift was not a million miles away but lost and we came out at +3.6 points up on the day.
We have two going tomorrow over at Gowran Park both again are outsiders.

3.11 Bannow Blaze 12-1 but 10-1 for 6 places looks the best option
4.55 Dream Shaper @ 22-1 for 4 places

We have gone with the extra places as both of these are already in a deficit with us and will cost us a 1 point each way wager instead of today’s minimum stakes.

Dream Shaper dropped another 2 points and is starting to be expensive to follow but Bannow Blaze placed for +1 which means we only dropped the the one point on the day.

Although most of my previous selections have all been big prices one or two were already in deficit so over the last few weeks I have manage to drop -11.4 points. I would love to blame the fact that most of them were placed from Morriston CCU but alas I am afraid I do not believe that it would have made much difference. I have still not had time to update the data bases or site properly so the 3 point difference still needs looking to but I am currently according to the thread now only +158.70 points up.
We hope to get back on track with tomorrow’s selection but it may take a few days to bring everything up to date.

Cork 2.52 Big Dispute @ 5-1 (we are holding off for a few hours to try and obtain BOG as it should be available later tonight on this race)

We placed with Big Dispute @ 5-1 so although this one cost us 2 points each way it made no difference as we broke even on the day.
We have two outsiders going at Punchestown tomorrow at huge prices so both can be minimum stake 1/2 point each way for which I am happy to go straight in without waiting for BOG (in case they shorten up before it becomes available).

Both of the last two went down but it wasn’t to painful and we now we stand at +156.70. We have two going tomorrow at Thurles along the same lines but due to the prices we will need to up the stakes on one of them.

I have done my usual and waited for BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) to come into effect with Bet365 before placing my bets and this prompted to me to consider a thread offering the advantages offered by the varying bookmakers. I am a huge fan of Best Odds Guaranteed. But then again I do like the extra places offered by Sky Bet. Food for thought possibly….

I guess the argument as to whether it is better to go with BOG, or extra places depends on how risk adverse each punter is, especially as Skybet tend to factor in a cost for extra places, through offering lower odds for almost every runner in a race where they offer extra places.

Perhaps, the best way of deciding which is the optimum strategy for your system is to place split stakes on both the BOG and extra place markets and monitor which produces the greater profit, or lower loss figure (not that I am implying that your selections are unprofitable) over a period of time.

I had a nice winner with Alright Darling which brought us in a nice +9.80 point profit on Thursday which now takes us back up to +165.50 for the thread. I had one going tomorrow that has just become a non runner so we will have to wait for Sunday until the next bet.
I did take my eye off the ball with regard to Alright Darling and should have had a little more on him to cover the deficit as he was -2 at the time but in my defense I have been playing catch up on the site and missed the boat on that one and he finishes only 8.8 points up.

After yesterdays 9-1 winner we will try and keep the run going but unfortunately have our worst nightmare scenario for this to happen as we are relying on
Fool Me Once @ 14-1 for 4 places in the 3.07 at Limerick
I say worse nightmare as this one is our biggest loser to date and will require a wager of at least 1.5 points each way to sort this one out.
