Ridiculous Ideas for 2025

We had some profitable crazy ideas for 2024 and thought we go in early in 2025. The first one could end up being expensive by following an accumulation of horses from our database but we will start it off with two tomorrow over at Thurles.
12.20 Happy Me @ 8-1
12.20 Big Dispute 20-1 but we will go with 12-1 for 4 places
We are wary of the fact that we will need the 8 runners to stay in the race and we would prefer Big Dispute without both favourites so will update the thread later. But if this bet goes ahead these two will form the base for the new thread and with a rolling maul style of betting incorporated should be fun to follow.

As the saying goes “The best laid plans of mice and men” we have spent some considerable time working on a data base and are starter bet has been sideswiped by a non runner.
But we have decided to go in with the following with Sky Bet as they are still offering 3 places
12.20 Happy Me @ 9-2
12.20 Big Dispute @ 18-1

Not what we would have liked to start with but it could have been worse. It has however given us an opportunity to show you how this would work. Assuming we wanted to follow each horse until it made a set profit of say over 10 points (just to avoid dealing in fractions) we have the following scenario after day one.
Happy Me would have been backed at 2 points each way @ 9-2 which would have made 10.8 profit if it had won but having placed means we are -0.20 on this one.
Big Dispute was backed at 0.5 of a point each way @ 18-1 and is now -1 point
These losses would need to be added to each runner the next time we back them so Happy Me would now be backed to win 10.2 points and Big Dispute to win 11 points.
I will be putting up the 5 and 6yo’s and Suds will be placing the wagers on the 4yo’s (all taken from our data base).

We have another one going tomorrow by way of Bishbashbosh in the 2.10 at Down Royal currently available @ 7-2 for 5 places which will do but we are going to wait a little longer to see if we can get a better price.

The general price on Bishbashbosh is now 4-1 which we will take shortly unless we can get a bit of 9-2 anywhere. We will have a few more runners from our list running this week and will update the thread in more detail once we have enough data to work with.

I may be missing for a day or so but here is a quick update of the state of play with our to follow horses

1.03 Kish Bank @ 7-2 (bet365) 3 places
1.38 Aspurofthemoment @ 6-1 (bet365) 6 places
Both have BOG guaranteed so we have gone in tonight with both bets

After having four horses placed on the bounce we finally had a winner by way of Aspurofthemoment today and means we can give the idea a bit of clarity now.
Kish Bank was backed at 2.5 @ 7-2 points each way and having placed now stands at -0.75 points
Aspurofthemoment was backed at 1.5 points each way @ 6-1 and made a profit of +10.80 points
This leave us with the following total so far after five bets
Happy Me -0.2 points
Big Dispute -1 point
Bishbashbosh -0.2 points
Kish Bank -0.75 points
Aspurofthemoment +10.8 points
Running total to date + 8.65 points
The data base Suds (Clarence) and I have been working on has taken a while to get right but I am sure if you had asked Sudsie and myself two years ago if we would have settled for five placed and one winner from the first six selections we would have laughed at the prospect. It’s early days but we are over the moon so far lets see if we can get one of the 4yo from the data base in next.

NB. Suds also had a decent shout with a sequel to the data base on here Suds…goes off course 🙂 today. Sudsie played safe for 6 places to start the thread off but a 50-1 fourth in a 14 runner race makes good reading especially if you had done it without the favourite Qui De Bourbon which was our TTF horse…lol. Also Aspurofthemoment was put up by Hopefull on this thread Hopefull’s (hard work) today and with JoeH getting off to a positive start on  Joe goes for goals last night it’s nice when you get times like this on the site.

Well I guess it was had to happen eventually our first loss we dropped two points on James The Brave but we march on undeterred as we are still well up. But it will be a tricky a day tomorrow as we head in with one 4yo (Suds Choice) and a risky proposition over at Fairyhouse tomorrow.

3.00 Ballybow @ 11-2
We had not really considered the prospect of having runner on our list that would start at and SP of over 20-1 so will a have to consider our options tonight as we only need to make a profit of ten plus points per runner. To further complicate matters Mr Globalist 15-2 for 3 currently was on the list but runs at Sedgefield tomorrow having been sold since we compiled the list.

As Ballybow has drifted out and we can now get 15-2 we will go with Ballybow and I will leave the best thread option for Tremaine to Suds.But I have put a wild one over on the Speed Ratings Irish Hurdlers thread which I could not resist.

Tremaine could not help the cause today but as you know we were hesitant as it was such a huge outsider but it was the first 4yo from the data base and I believe Suds has another for tomorrow. As for our other wager Ballybow did us proud by becoming our second winner for the thread. Here are the current standings for the thread.

As Suds is working and I have the benefit of retirement I will be updating the threads and placing the bets on weeekdays. We can obtain 5-1 for 3 places on Lakota Blue with Sky Bet this morning and having contacted Suds we have agreed to settle on that for the day. It does not have BOG attached but the extra place could make all the difference now the ground has gone Heavy.
